Willy is my comic strip character from way back in the day. He got his first start in my 6th grade class in like 1990. After much thinking about characters for a comic strip I always come back to Willy. He will have new friends and adventures and he will always be funny. I am also going to experiment with different styles of comic strips. This style I like because there is no "inking" on the drawing. I drew the orginal in pencil and straight scanned that in. It gives the lines in my illustration movment and although it is not perfectly clean, who cares. There are no comics out there now with this type of style. Most prefer the traditional method of starting in blue pencil and gradually working up to inking. I scaned this directly into photoshop and beefed up the pencil lines with levels and burning. I added color this time with Pshop, the backgrounds are lightly muted. I will try to add a new comic once a week.

Go Green??? Only for the HULK!
This week we should think about green design. Is green design a fad or is it really something that will evolve into something for the greater good?
I believe that it is a fad. Because if it was not a fad wouldn't everyone be trying to make every product a "green" product. And we wouldn't have to use the word "green" on environmently friendly products. Big companies do not care about "green design" they only care about the bottom line. But I also believe it is up to us as designers to turn this fad into reality. We should be aware of what materials we use and how we use them. We as designers can push the "green" issue until it is an everyday solution to every problem.

Gphonie App
Here is a link to an article about the new "gphone" app. Apparently Google has coped out and is not developing a "free" phone or any kind of phone of the sort. They are developing software to run on existing and new phones of the kind that help run the internet better on a phone. Software for phones as of right now is pretty lame maybe this will turn it around... Then again maybe not.

As an industrial Designer I am always on the lookout for new and exciting things, ideas, thoughts, concepts, processes, and just about anything that can apply to anything. If you stumble apon this site I hope you enjoy what you see and if not, oh well.
